Top drivers running BFGoodrich tires, Rob MacCachren (left) and Bryce Menzies (right) compete at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORS). On the weekend of August 23-25, 2013, Wild West Motorsports Park, Sparks/Reno, Nevada, hosted a LOORS series race. These teams vied for honors on one of the fastest tracks in the country. Rob MacCachren races both Pro 4 (4x4) and Pro 2, Bryce Menzies competes in the 2WD Pro 2 class. In these HD video discussions, two exceptional drivers share the technology, equipment and driving techniques that win these high stakes races!

Rob MacCachren is an off-road racing legend, hard won through consistent teamwork and masterful driving skills. In this HD video discussion, Rob MacCachren shares an inside view of his Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series race trucks. Hear Rob talk candidly about the equipment, team effort and technology required to win at Pro 4 and Pro 2 racing! See the equipment and logistics Rob MacCachren uses to meet the high technology demands of today's professional off-road racing.

Rob MacCachren talks about the new race truck. Spare engines for the MacCachren race trucks.
Rob MacCachren has mastered his craft. His explanation of what it takes to win breaks down to the right equipment, tuning, support crew and driving style for this kind of racing. On the shop trailer, two 900-horsepower backup engines, producing 750 ft. lbs. of torque each, rest beneath the bench, ready for action if necessary. To win at this series takes the best chassis, powertrain and driving skills.

Tires from BFGoodrich for the Pro 2 and Pro 4 trucks. BFGoodrich Tires are an important part of the Rob MacCachren racing strategy.
To Rob, the cockpit of the race truck is his "office"—and he means business!  At this level of racing, every effort is made to keep the truck, pit crew and tuning well coordinated. Right, Rob talks about the in-depth support and commitment from BFGoodrich Tires, bringing tires to the leading edge of technology for this specialized, high-horsepower form of racing. The track is the final R&D for these racing tires.

Pro 4 race truck between races. 900 horsepower from a carburetor and natually aspirated.
Regardless of results for each race, the #21 Pro 4 truck (left) must be brought to peak performance before its next time on the track. Stripped of body panels, the truck reenters the pit garage or "tent shop" for a thorough going over. Laps over 90 mph on this fast and furious track test these trucks to the maximum. Nothing is left to chance...The carburetor (right) must be jetted for the 4,500-plus foot altitude.

Bryce Menzies is rapidly becoming a racing legend. His Pro 2 race truck competes in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. In this HD video discussion, Bryce shares insight into the focused effort that the Stronghold Motorsports race team puts into racing. Everything must work properly, and there is no room for errors at the pinnacle of closed course off-road racing!
(Video can be opened and viewed at full-screen HD 1080P.)

Bryce Menzies talks about the Fox shock absorbers. Pro 2 racing truck is 2WD front end.
Bryce and others use Fox specialized shock absorbers. He shares the design and tuning that these shocks offer. At right is the 2WD front suspension of the #70 Pro 2 class truck. This is beyond heavy-duty, able to take the punishment of 900 horsepower thrusting the truck forward and 14-inch disc brakes making the abrupt stops that permit 180-degree turning angles.

Underdrive with quick-change gears. All-billet 430 cubic inch V-8 engine.
Bryce describes the rear suspension and axle. The 430 cubic inch billet racing engine (right) drives power through a modified Turbo 400 (G.M. design) transmission. There is an underdrive behind this transmission that has quick-change gears. Rob, Bryce and others rely on this system to eliminate the need to change ring-and-pinion gears at the axles. Quick change in this case means fixed gearing at the axles and the ability to alter ratios for different tracks and driving conditions.

Bryce Menzies talks about the racing season LOORS rules. Bryce Menzies number 70 Pro 2 truck for Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.
There is a winning attitude and strategy for LOORS racing. Bryce and Rob both detail what it takes to win a race—and stay in the top positions. Both Bryce Menzies and Rob MacCachren operate out of Southern Nevada, where the desert has produced many top drivers in off-road racing!
